Pool Heating Options

There is nothing like a heated pool, especially when you love to swim and you don't want to wait until mid June, when the water may finally be warm enough. Pool Town offers two types of very capable Pool Water Heaters; Heat Pumps and standard Gas Fired Heaters. Each system has its own advantages. Your Pool Town Professional has the experience to help you determine which system is best for you.

Natural Gas Heater

Natural Gas Heater

Gas Heaters are fueled by either natural or propane gas and are the most popular choice for pool owners, as they have been around longer than pool heat pumps.

Pros:

  • Lower upfront cost
  • Heats pool water quickly
  • Works in any temperature
  • Easily installed into plumbed gas line from your home

Cons:

  • Higher utility costs
  • More moving parts compared to Heat Pumps

Blue Zebra Heat Pump

Heat-Pump

Heat Pumps are electricity powered and work like an AC unit in reverse. These heat pumps do not produce heat so much as extract it from the outside. These are newer to the residential pool market and are becoming more common.

Pros:

  • Lower run cost
  • Energy efficient
  • Easier to install
  • Great for mild climates

Cons:

  • Higher upfront cost
  • Ineffective below 50 degrees
